Salvation Through Meeting
Throughout my childhood and in the years leading up to high school, the love for the Lord that my parents had was enough to keep me from many of the sinful things of this world. Throughout high school and especially in my college years, Satan subtly began to seek after me to draw me away from the kingdom of God and more into the tide of this age (1 Peter 4:4). God never left me, however, and in the most practical way I was always left with an escape from Satan's grasp (Matthew 12:29, I Peter 5:8): the meetings of the local church in Tucson. It never mattered what my condition was or what I had been getting involved with throughout the week; I was always welcomed and brought into rest in the enjoyment of the Lord with all of the other believers.
In the meetings of the local church I experienced the great mercy and grace of the Lord, which is far-reaching and always available. Every meeting was a salvation to me, and I thank the Lord for each one. The experience of the Lord in the meetings was made even more real to me when I was defeated and allowed certain things to keep me from the meetings. Then I would feel I was empty and in death. But every time I went to the meeting, I was filled with life, joy, and peace. Through the meetings I was saved into a more deep and personal love for the Lord. Praise the Lord for His mercy to rescue me from the tide of this age by joining me to all the believers in the local church.
